A network of 1,000 fire hydrants provide extinguishing capabilities to households in the Mendota Heights fire service area. Snow and weeds can impede a firefighter's ability to quickly locate and access a fire hydrant.
The Fire Department asks residents and businesses to informally adopt a hydrant by clearing snow and weeds in a three-foot radius around it. Also, please keep gas meters and exhaust vents clear of snow and ice during the winter months.
