Adopt a Hydrant

A network of 1,000 fire hydrants provide extinguishing capabilities to households in the Mendota Heights fire service area.  Snow and weeds can impede a firefighter's ability to quickly locate and access a fire hydrant.

On average, for every minute a fire burns, it doubles in size.  For this reason, the Fire Department asks residents and businesses to adopt a hydrant and clear snow and weeds around a fire hydrant in a three-foot radius around it.

Also, please keep gas meters and exhaust vents clear of snow and ice during the winter months.
