Request Public Data
Data practices
The Minnesota Government Data Practices Act grants the public the right to view and request copies of public data maintained by the City of Mendota Heights. Data may viewed at no cost or copies may be requested for a cost. Charges are authorized under Minnesota Statutes, section 13.03, subdivision 3(c) and section 13.04, subdivision 3.
Data Requests
To request data, please use the Data Request Form for the Public or the Data Request Form for Data Subjects.
If the data request form is not used, the data request should include:
- A request is being made for data as a member of the public or a request is being made for data about yourself, and you are the subject of the data
- A clear description of the data you would like to inspect or have copies
- Whether you would like to look at the data, get copies of the data, or both
A data request can be submitted in the following ways mail, fax, or email.

How the City Responds to Data Requests
For requests made by a member of the public, the City will respond to your request within a reasonable amount of time.
For requests made by subjects of the data, we will respond immediately if possible, or within 10 business days. Identifying information will be required If you are the subject of the data that proves you are the subject of the data, or if you are the data subject's parent or guardian.

Prepayment
Prepayment may be required to cover the actual staff time and costs of searching, retrieval, copying, reproducing, transmitting, mailing, media, and supplies. Be specific in your request (ie. who, what, when, where, why, how) and review the data policies.
