Community Keeps Community Safe

Message from the Chief

The Mendota Heights Police Department enforces state and local criminal laws. We, like most other police departments, are not legally authorized to enforce immigration laws. Please see our policy on how we respond to alleged immigration violations, as well as how we respond to assemblies.

Fear in our community is palpable and some are folks are wondering what they can do. I encourage people to show up for one another, and prioritize individual and community safety while doing so.
As always, please feel free to email me (Email Chief McCarthy) with any questions or comments you may have.

Identifying City Staff

Uniforms help identify City staff who are performing official duties.

No one in a City uniform will ever ask for your immigration status or participate in federal immigration enforcement activities. Our officers do not wear masks to conceal their identity.

Mendota Heights Patrol Officers wear dark blue uniforms that include a badge and a department patch, as shown to the right. Administrative staff may occasionally be dressed in plain clothes rather than a uniform; however, they will carry official identification identifying them as Mendota Heights Police Officers.
