City Hall lobby hours are 7 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Thursday, 7 to 11:30 am on Friday. Police Department lobby hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. When City Hall front entry doors are locked, please enter the lower level doors on the north side of the building to access the Police Department lobby. Parking is available in the Police Department lot off of Lexington Avenue.

A list of rubbish haulers licensed by the City is available below. Please note that this list contains all rubbish haulers that are licensed in Mendota Heights. Starting in January 2022, recycling haulers must offer weekly pickup service to their residential customers in Dakota County. If you live in a townhouse, contact your association to determine who is contracted for your area. All Mendota Heights residents and businesses are required to have proper refuse disposal. Mendota Heights has an open hauling refuse system which means that residents and businesses contract directly with a licensed refuse hauler.

When it snows more than two inches, Mendota Heights will issue a Snow Emergency and vehicles need to be off the street until the street is plowed full-width (does not matter if it is day or night). Violators will may be cited and towed.

Parking is prohibited on any City street between the hours of 2 am and 6 am from November 1st to March 31st. The City of Mendota Heights strives to provide the highest level of service for the lowest possible cost for it citizens. The Winter Parking Ordinance assists plow drivers to clear streets to full width quickly and it increases the ability of your Police Officers to spot something unusual or out of the ordinary as they drive through our neighborhoods.

A property owner or lessee of the property may have a recreational fire without obtaining a permit by complying with the following regulations:
- Hours Fire to Be Extinguished: Fire shall be extinguished within three (3) hours after start, but no later than 11 pm
- Materials Burned Restricted: Clean, dry wood only (no refuse, grass, leaves, logs over three inches (3”) in diameter, paper, garbage, trade waste or other combustibles).
- Size of Fire: Size shall not be more than three feet (3’) in diameter, nor shall the flames reach a height in excess of three feet (3’).
- Location: No fire shall be within 25 feet of any building or structure.
- Means to Extinguish: A means of extinguishment must be in the immediate area of the fire.
- Weather Conditions: No fire shall be started or maintained in dry conditions or winds over 15 mph.
- Attendance Required: Recreational fires must be constantly attended by a competent person of at least 16 years of age and must be in constant attendance until the recreational fire has been extinguished.
- Portable Outdoor Fireplaces: Portable outdoor fireplaces shall be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and shall not be operated within 15 feet of a structure or combustible material.
- Authority to Restrict Fires: The code official has the authority to prohibit, suspend, or further restrict all fires should conditions warrant such action.

If wastewater is backing up only when you are using water, the plug is likely in your service line and you should call a qualified sewer cleaning contractor to service the line. If wastewater is backing up when no water is being used in your building, the city sewer may be plugged and you should call the city immediately. When in doubt, call the city first during normal business hours, call Public Works at 651-454-4059, and after hours, call Dakota County Dispatch at 651-322-2323.
