A native perennial often found in dry, rocky soil in open woods, prairies, and savannahs. It grows up to 2.5 feet in height, with lance-shaped simple leaves, and bright orange blooms June-August. Butterfly Milkweed attracts many species of butterflies, is a host plant for the Monarch butterfly, and provides nectar and pollen for many pollinator species.
