The City is working with Barr Engineering and Veit & Company, Inc. to perform maintenance on two stormwater ponds; Rogers Lake stormwater pond, located within Rogers Lake Park, and Park Place stormwater pond, located southeast of the intersection of Park Place Drive and Farmdale Road.
The State of Minnesota and the MN Pollution Control Agency require that the City maintain its permanent stormwater management features as necessary, under the Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) General Permit. This includes maintenance of stormwater ponds, which treat stormwater from streets and other impervious surfaces before it enters lakes, rivers, and other surface waters.
The work entails removing sediment that has accumulated in the ponds, as well as repairing or replacing damaged stormwater structures. Maintenance is being performed during the winter months in order to minimize the affects on vegetation, surface waters, and wildlife.
