The City is searching for photos from Mendota Heights that highlight our commitment to pollinators throughout the month of May, in celebration of Pollinator Awareness Month. As a Pollinator-Friendly Community, the City encourages all Mendota Heights community members to become more pollinator-friendly by adopting practices such as avoiding the use of pesticides, and planting and preserving pollinator habitat such as native pollinator plants, trees, and shrubs. Other practices include avoiding planting flowering plants that have been treated with systemic insecticides, and leaving leaves, stems, and plants throughout the winter and early spring to provide nesting habitat.
You can win a Pollinator Gift Basket by showcasing a pollinator-friendly landscape or practice in our community. Just submit a photo in a direct message to the City via Facebook or Instagram, mail or drop off your photo at City Hall, or emailing your photo to City Staff. Be sure to submit your name and contact information with your photo when submitting a photo by mail or in-person. Forms are available at City Hall.
