[ARCHIVED] City Ranks #1 in Organics Recycling

Organics Recycling

Organic waste placed into landfills generates methane, a potent greenhouse gas. By recycling organic materials, you are significantly reducing methane emissions and creating nutrient-rich compost used in gardening and landscaping.

With more than 18% of households participating, Mendota Heights ranks #1 in organics recycling participation through Dakota County! In 2022, the Mendakota Park drop site alone collected 101 tons of organic material, equal to the weight of an average-size blue whale.

Ready to get started? Residents can drop off organics such as food scraps and compostable paper at the organics drop site in Mendakota Park (2111 Dodd Road). Learn more and register to participate at MendotaHeightsMN.gov/Organics.
