City Council

The City Council consists of a mayor and four council members, who are elected at large. Local elections are held in November of even-numbered years. The Mayor is elected to a two-year term, and Council Members are elected to four-year terms. The City Council legislates for the City and sets administrative policy. The City Administrator, who is appointed by the City Council, serves as the chief administrative officer for the city. city council governing principles

The City Council established a set of City Council Governing Principles on July 1, 2025.  The principles outline shared values and expectations for how the City Council works together and serves the community.

These principles promote respectful communication, collaboration, transparency, and ethical leadership.  They serve as a framework for how council members engage with one another, with city staff, and with the public.  While not a policy or ordinance, the governing principles reflect the Council's commitment to effective governance and public trust.
